How you know your employer is a sham November 23, 2008

I recently left an employer, whos name I will not mention! That tried to manipulate workers into believing that they had to be under their every command or they would fire them. I have just listed a few hints as to what MAY be significant clues leading to that employer being a sketchy illegitimate employer.

1.  They hire you on the spot and barely look at your resume

2.  They make you sign a contract stating that you have to give a minimum of 4 weeks notice before leaving

3.  They threaten to withhold pay for any reason

4.  They ask you to leave early or not to come in to give another employee some hours

5.  They give you a 1 hour unpaid lunch and no breaks for a 9 hour day

6.  They embarrassed or put you down in front of other staff members

7.  You feel as is you have to “tip toe” around the place

8.  They tell you to tell another equal staff member what they are doing wrong

9.  Your pay is not on time

10. Your employer makes you feel as if your job is more important than family or your health

Are Vets Really in it for the pets? October 27, 2008

Well my friends I have recently figured out that our economy has allowed only for the rich to have pets. I have recently been in a situation where I had to take my cat to the vet for x rays and the bill would be so high that I had to turn around and postpone the x rays. Are the prices at vet clinics really justifiable? I understand that one should be able to afford to have a pet if they own one, but really!!!! Vets probably make about $200 or more an hour!!!!! Is that really nesessary? to the point where they have to turn down animals that are in pain.

The SPCA do wonderful work and I won’t knock them, but I do not believe that the only reason that inocent animals are being put down is because of the lack of spayed and neutered pets in various communities; but because people can not afford  the RIDICULOUS bills in order to save their pets life or ease them from pain. Can the majority of people who own pets honestly say that they have $2000 saved for a pet emergency? Or are the majority of people paying non negotiable debts to the economy. The majority of vets arn’t even on call, and the majority of clinics aren’t even open on sundays for crying out loud! I’ve heard of pet insurance and yes I have applied but guess what; I have a government loan like most graduated students, therefor I do not qualify. I am getting so sick and tired of walking into a vet clinic to hear how much they care for our pets yet refuse to help them if they don’t get a minimum of $180 in THEIR pockets. So in my opinion any vet that turns down an animal in pain because money is not in it for their pet. I also feel that pet insurance should not be based on credit, but there should be monthly payment plans such as our health plan system.
